This year is going so fast! We are already starting our spring sports, vocational educational competitions, and preparing for state testing and graduation. This year the commencement will take place at Rankin Stadium, beginning at 7:30 on Wednesday, May 22. Once again, MHS looks forward to graduating another outstanding class of seniors, the class of 2013.
Our annual Academic Honor Rally will be on Thursday, April 4, in the gymnasium. All students who have earned a 3.0 grade point average or better for last spring 2012 and this fall 2012 will be recognized as well as students who have exemplified one of the six pillars of the Character Counts Program. We will also have some student performances to enhance the evening. Please look for the notice in the mail soon and try to attend this wonderful event.
We are still waiting for the February California High School Exit Exam results for our sophomore class that completed the test for the first time. On May 14th & 15th we will be giving the CAHSEE test again for the Sophomores who have never tested and the Jrs. And Srs. who have not passed. Starting April 16, all underclassmen and staff will be focused on the STAR tests (Standardized Testing and Reporting Program). The STAR is designed to gage our students’ understanding of the California State Standards. Students who score well on the test may be eligible to receive the prestigious Golden State Seal Merit Diploma. Last school year, 57 graduates earned this special honor. We ask for your support for the testing by not scheduling appointments during testing time and making sure your students get plenty of rest and have a good breakfast. See the current testing schedule below.
The Guidance Department has started student scheduling with the underclassmen. Also the Summer Credit Recovery program has been set up for June 3 - July 12. There will be limited openings and will be only for those students who did not pass any of the core subject areas. Registration forms are now available - please contact the counselors for this.

Character Counts is an extremely important set of values that are emphasized here at Monache. Our teachers and students strive to carry out the six pillars of character both in and out of school. On May 18, 2012, the Monache administration held its annual Character Counts lunchtime rally. All awardees were presented with a certificate and a free ice cream coupon to commend them for displaying positive character traits. Listed below are the Character Counts award recipients.
